During WWII, Romano’s paintings became darker and more melancholic. He was born in Bracigliano, Campania Italy in 1906 and died in New York City at the age of 77 in 1982. Works by Romano art are held at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, the Fogg Art Museum in Boston, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian Institution.
