Miriam Fried, American, 1916-2014, “Gaza II” acrylic on paper. Provenance from the estate of a Massachusetts estate. Miriam Fried is a listed, well-known Provincetown artist who painted acrylic abstract compositions on paper. Born in Patterson, NJ, she was the daughter of Helen Benstrom, an opera singer, and Charles Winn, an accomplished pianist and composer. Miriam studied painting with various teachers, including Helen Van Wyck, Robert Natkin, and Stephen Lo Monaco. Her works are in many private and corporate collections on the East Coast, including the Boston Stock Exchange. Fried was active in Provincetown for more than sixty years.
