Colorado Raspberry Alabaster. Artists plaque under base. Leon Saulter 1908-1986. Leon Saulter is a listed sculptor, painter, poet and teacher born in Poland. By the 1930’s he was a resident of Los Angeles and was active on the Federal Art Project WPA during the Great Depression. He exhibited with the Painters and Sculptors Assn. of LA, the artists Union and the prestigious Stendahl Gallery and the Santa Barbara Museum and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. His works are in the Santa Barbara Museum, Bonita Union High School, and the David Starr Jordon School in Long Beach. This piece is from the estate of the artist.
